Ways To Overcome Depression, An Islamic Overview
Before moving
towards our main destination(Depression) lets try to configure that from where depression comes or the first
question which arises in our mind about depression is that how this depression
comes?
“ALLAH
DOES NOT HATE YOU, O MUHAMMAD, NOR HE HAS FORSAKEN YOU”
So the answer is, Whenever In
our daily life, while making any decision, we come to know about some hurdles
some barriers through which we can’t make right decisions.
Same in case
when we set many targets, we set many goals but because of some reasons we
can’t achieve our goals or out targets.
The first
problem we make is we start to depend on people, we start to overthink that
this, this and this person is going to help us whenever we shall face any
problem and then eventually when the problem arrives that person is not
responding our phone calls and then at the end there’s a list of excuses from
everyone, and here is a small end of our goal.
"People are always going to add some hurdles, barriers, but you have to create your intact connection with your ALLAH, because if your connection with Almighty is intact, you have everything"
Let’s find
the solution to depression from QURAN, that which were the instructions from
ALLAH PAK given to Prophet (PBUH) and to us while having depression.
When Prophet(PBUH) was feeling depressed then ALLAH pak asked him:
“BY THE SUN & THE MORNING IN ITS BLAZING GLORY”
So the first thing you tell someone who is depressed, “wake up!! see the sunlight, it’s not all doom & gloom!!!”There’s a beautiful sun out there, beautiful light.
“BY THE
NIGHT AS IT ENVELOPS”
We can observe that the second problem with the people who are depressed is, they stay up the nights and go to sleep in the morning.
And then
ALLAH says:
“ALLAH
DOES NOT HATE YOU, O MUHAMMAD, NOR HE HAS FORSAKEN YOU”
Same like this ALLAH does not hate us o Ali, o Nabeel, o Usman ALLAH doesn’t hate you.
“INDEED, THE HEREAFTER WILL BE FAR BETTER FOR YOU THAN THIS WORLD”
What is
coming is far better for you than what situation you’re in now.
And then ALLAH pak says:
“AND VERY SOON ALLAH WILL GIVE YOU A MASSIVE REWARD & IT WILL MAKE YOU HAPPY”
Very soon
ALLAH will give us a victory from all of this & make us happy, ALLAH has
promised this and of a surety very soon. Isn’t this a
beautiful thing to say to a person who feels bad in his heart?
Then ALLAH PAK
gives us a reason to believe what does he say…..
“DID HE NOT FIND YOU AN ORPHAN &
LOOKED AFTER YOU”
Ask yourself, weren’t you very sick sometimes?Weren’t you a little boy & ALLAH looked after you?Weren’t you little girl, no one to care for you & ALLAH looked after you?
And then a
beautiful thing for people who are waiting for a direction, ALLAH PAK says:
“AND WE FOUND YOU MISGUIDED, DIDN’T WE GUIDE YOU"
Weren’t we
misguided brothers and sisters, before we came practicing.
As an experience
I know I never used to pray for myself & I never knew about my DEEN.
Didn’t ALLAH
find me misguided & guided me? In the same way weren’t you misguided &
ALLAH guided you?
“DIDN’T ALLAH (SWT) FIND YOU POOR? IN NEED OF WEALTH & DIDN’T ALLAH GIVE YOU WEALTH”
And then ALLAH give more & more reasoning to prophet (PBUH) & to us, reminding us again & again, why you should believe everything else that ALLAH has said, his promises that will come true.So to the depressed person, this is the best way to reason by telling him about past & giving him reason to believe that ALLAH’s promise will come true just like he did in the past.
And then
ALLAH gives antidote to depression!!! Do you know what
it is? By remembering
those people who are far, far in more difficulty than you,
ALLAH PAK
says:
“AND SO THE ORPHAN, DO NOT BE HARD ON HIM”
We have
parents to look after us, we have a family to look after us, someone to go
home, but the orphans have nobody.
“AND THE ONE WHO ASKS YOU DO NOT SAY NO TO HIM”
The beggar, he has no food, he’s no food, he’s asking you for food, he goes to sleep hungry every day, ALLAH has given you food.1st is an orphan & 2nd one is the a beggar, remember the orphans don’t have anyone to look after!!!
And then at
the end, once again ALLAH PAK gives us antidote which is to look at the people
below us, which is the final way to remove this feeling of being disconnected from
ALLAH,
“AND THE BLESSINGS OF ALLAH ARE INNUMMERATE,
TALK ABOUT THE BLESSINGS OF YOUR LORD”
My brothers
and sisters if ALLAH didn’t love us then why he’s still keeping us alive?
If ALLAH didn’t
like us, why is he giving us sustenance for every minute what we are alive?
If ALLAH didn’t
love us, why we are here today? Sharing this knowledge increasing in wisdom
& love of ALLAH (SWT).
π blessed to have u and stunning π
